In a population of more than 22,000 Swedish prisoners, researchers found during an average follow up period of more than four and a half years over 4,000 of them went on to violently reoffend.

But providing ex-prisoners with the correct medication drastically reduced the rate of recidivism, compared with those who did not receive treatment.
